Steve Nichols has 40+ years in both Hospital Administration and Pharmacy Operations for profit and nonprofit hospitals. He served as the interim CEO of Quitman County Hospital for two years, and CEO of Bolivar Medical Center increasing its market share by 1.5% and net income by 20%. The Bolivar Medical Center was also named to Modern Healthcare’s Top 100 Most Improved Hospitals in 2007.
As a Pharmacy Consultant, he implemented modern clinical programs in hospitals across the United States. He has operated hospitals across the Southeast primarily in Rural Areas. He has been responsible for the financial turnaround of multiple facilities along with improving patient, physician satisfaction and quality scores.
As the CEO of Riley Hospital in Meridian, Miss., he oversaw total renovation of Emergency Room and Surgical Nursing Units. He recruited 12 physicians during 2001-2005, implemented a Stroke Center, Wound Care and Level II NICU. He engineered the turnaround of the declining facility to show increases in admissions, surgeries and births along with increased profit margins. He maintained FTE’s per AOB at 3.10 and increased net admission’s revenue by 3.5%. Mr. Nichols received 3-year accreditation with JCAHO in Oct 2005 with only 2 RFI’s. He was a member of the HMA Club in 2003/2004. And he had experience of building relationships between a major Tertiary hospital and smaller hospitals across the state. Nichols is a rotary club member and former Finance Committee Member with the Mississippi Hospital Association.
